Mats or Shanny?
The debate is officially on.
As Sam Weinman and Steve Zipay give us the heads up on whats going on with these two players, we are standed to think which would we rather have IF the Rangers actually sign either/or?
I would have to stick with Shanny. Not only will he come at alot cheaper than Mats, but he will also take on a reduced role just to finish his career on Broadway.
Sundin on the other hand would be ALOT more expensive and also demand a slot on the 1st or 2nd line.
Is this something we really want to do?
Shanahan it is!

If the choice is between Shanny or Mats, I defintely go with Shanny. We know he will come back for a reasonable (or more reasonable) price. ANd at least he already has a relationship with NY.
In a perfect world I would like for us to continue as is, with the youth movemnet moving forward.

I avocate the re-signing of Shanny in any way, shape, and form...especially if it's a choice between him and Sundin. If for no other reason, Shanny is a proven leader, not to mention on a team made up of young players who are already comfortable with that leadership quality. Not saying Sundin isn't a decent leader or anything, but when you compare the two, and their histories, I go with Shanny every time. Not to mention that the Rangers have made adapted to a more North American style of play. I think more finesse when I think of Sundin's play. If that's what Sather wanted, then he would have thrown anything at President Jagr in order to get him to stay. He would have had Dolan's full approval, too, since Jagr would have come cheaper, I'm sure.

Yeh Scott, why don't we sign up John McCain with Shanny. They're the same age! Just what we need, more of yesterday. Old has beens who makes Kevin Lowe look fast. Do you think he wants to help or does he want the money. ANY you wanted to see Jagr go. Are you crazy!!!!
